TRAGEDY Interview: Mo’Royce Deconstructs and Reassembles

You would not think disco and metal would complement each other comfortably, and I still believe they normally wouldn’t, but Tragedy has found a method that somehow makes it work. Not only do they make it work, but they flat-out also excel in this bizarre concept. As I began to listen, I became more and more intrigued with the versions they were doing with all of these iconic songs, and I found myself smiling and laughing for literal hours. This happened to be a day I had been initially struggling with, so I welcomed the comedy with open arms.

The more I dove into I Am Woman, as well as previous releases, the more I was able to recognize the pure genius of these musicians.  Mo’Royce Peterson (vocals, lead guitar), Disco Mountain Man (vocals, lead keyboard), Gibbon Ass Freehly (lead guitar, vocals), Andy Gibbous Waning (lead bass, vocals), The Infernal Demigibb (lead drums), and towel boy Lance, have not only perfected this collaboration, but they have created a full experience of disco meets metal meets insatiable musicianship wrapped into comical videos and live performances. I am sold, and I already can’t wait to see what they do next. You could say, “I’m So Excited”, like Jessie Spano from Saved By The Bell. Two incredible guests make their presence known on this album with Mrs. Smith on “Memory” and Marcy Harriell on “Respect”. I Am Woman comes out March 3rd, 2023 through Napalm Records, and I encourage you to rush to the website to grab your copy.

Mo’Royce was nice enough to grace us with his wonderful presence and talk about the upcoming release. (If you are viewing from your phone, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “View Desktop Version” to gain full access to videos and interview.
