There are some hardworking bands out there, but I am unsure if you can find a harder-working band than August Burns Red. They are celebrating their 10th album release with Death Below on March 24th, 2023 through SharpTone Records, and their 20th anniversary as a band. The consistency of their sound and dedication is very rare and the fans stand by them for it. Basically, at this point, any fan will be preordering albums before hearing a song from them because they have that much trust in ABR.
August Burns Red is originally from Pennsylvania and started their adventure in 2003 but has become a solid quartet since 2006 with members: Jake Luhrs (vocals), JB Brubaker (guitar), Brent Rambler (guitar), Dustin Davidson (bass), and Matt Greiner (drums). They have been nominated for GRAMMYs twice, which is not shocking. The importance of their positive lyrical message has become a huge factor and has helped many people through their own life obstacles. Add in their insane musical talents with crushing guitar riffs, impeccable drums, as well as intense harsh vocals and steady bass lines, you simply cannot be bored or not entertained. Death Below has some progressive twists and guest musicians; Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), Jason Richardson (All That Remains, Born of Osiris, and Chelsea Grin), and JT Cavey (ERRA), that adds to the already unblemished experience. There is not a bad song on the album, but two of the most notable are “Fool’s Gold in a Bear Trap” and “Revival”. If you are not already a fan, this album will make you one.
Brent was kind enough to take time out of his schedule to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this upcoming release. (If you are viewing from your phone, scroll down to the bottom and click on the red “View Desktop Version” to get video and interview access).
