Metalcore is a genre that has been beloved by many since the 90s. Haste the Day fits under this umbrella and has been going on and off since 2001. They took a seven-year hiatus, but are now back with the upcoming release, Dissenter, which will be out May 1st, 2026. They are returning with a vengeance, and this album is absolutely fantastic.
Haste the Day is no stranger to the struggles and has had ups and downs. In 2015, Coward was released, which was the last album up until this release. They took a break and did not reunite until 2023. That must have felt right, because in 2024, they announced they would be putting out a new album, lucky for us! The band consists of members: Stephen Keech (vocals), Brennan Chaulk (rhythm guitar, clean vocals), Scott Whelan (guitar, backing vocals), Dave Krysl (lead guitar), Mike Murphy (bass, backing vocals), and Giuseppe Capolupo (drums). Dissenter is definitely full of heart and emotions. It cascades between harsh and clean vocals, as well as heavy and slower compositions. Each track is a one-word title, and takes you on many journeys with that one word. It is a must listen!
Stephen was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this release, as well as other topics.
