FUTURE PALACE Interview: Our Realities Are Completely Different

Anyone who knows me personally or pays close attention knows that I am a strong advocate for women in metal and for the importance of standing up for our gender on a multitude of topics. I have had conversations about these things with many of the women I have interviewed. Maria Lessing of Future Palace is also a strong advocate for this. I was thankful to pick her brain on her thoughts. Future Palace is releasing their album Resurgence on July 31st, 2026, and it is a gem. The album discusses mental health struggles, as well as other internal struggles. The ups and downs of being a human.

Future Palace hails from Berlin, Germany, and began in 2018. The band is known for theatrical, beautifully made videos along with the music. Maria Lessing (vocals) is joined by Manuel Kohlert (guitar) and Johannes Früchtenicht (drums).  This trio is impressive with their compositions and layered music stemming from three artists. Lessing mixes clean and harsh vocals while Früchtenicht keeps steady with some splendid fills and Kohlert releases some catchy riffs that stick with you. They add some breakdowns here and there that make the album continually interesting. The consistent shifts in style and emotional depth make it an album not to miss.

Lessing was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this release.
