SHORES OF NULL Interview: Matteo and The Loss of Beauty

Sometimes I am super late to the game with finding an album, and it can be worth it to bring it back to the surface. The Loss of Beauty by Shores of Null is that album for me. Originally released in March of 2023, I came across it due to the promo of their upcoming live release, Beauty Over Europe, which will be out in May of 2025. I was very thankful for this, because The Loss of Beauty is an exquisite album.

Shores of Null began in 2013 in Rome. This melodic black/doom metal band has released four full-length albums and is heading back into the studio to record their fifth album soon. Six musicians are behind the magic of this band: Davide Straccione (vocals), Gabriele Giaccari (guitar, backing vocals), Raffaele Colace (guitar, backing vocals),
Lorenzo Carlini (live bass), Matteo Capozucca (bass), Emiliano Cantiano (drums). Not only is the music incredible, but the videos are breathtaking and heartbreaking. It really adds a whole other depth to this band that already bleeds so much emotion. There is something very genuine and raw about Shores of Null that tends to take you on journeys of passion and feeling with every song. Straccione’s vocals drive into your soul with so much force, that it is impossible to not have some kind of effect on you. The Loss of Beauty is an album I highly recommend you listen all the way through. Sonically and compositionally, it is very well done and leaves you excited to hear what they will come out with next.

Matteo was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this release as well as what they have going on now. (If you are viewing from your phone, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “View Desktop Version” to gain video and interview access).
