The Nordic countries are known for impeccable music. Insomnium is one of many, but it has one of the most devoted and dedicated fan bases I have seen. It’s easy to see why when you listen to their discography. They’ll release their tenth album, Netherworlds, on October 16th, 2027. This album easily creates an emotional response. I feel a lump in my throat as it begins, and it stays that way throughout; it’s breathtaking and beautiful. We all know what they are capable of, but sometimes I still get caught off guard. Netherworlds is a masterpiece.
Insomnium began in the late 90s and has remained prevalent since. Niilo Sevänen (bass, unclean vocals), Ville Friman (guitar, clean vocals), Markus Hirvonen (drums), Markus Vanhala (guitar), and Tomy Laisto (guitar) have truly created something special here, and as I mentioned before, it invokes so many emotions that it is difficult to get through without shedding tears.
Niilo sat down with Metal Nation to discuss Netherworlds and other topics.
