One of my favorite things in interviewing someone you consider a friend, is being able to just “shoot the shit”, which is what Donny Burbage allowed me to do. We got to discuss everything from his involvement with Cradle of Filth, to his departure with Aether Realm, and everything in between. Cradle of Filth has recently released an album titled The Screaming of the Valkyries on March 21st, 2025 through Napalm Records. This release is another solid one from a metal band who has been around for a few years, or 30-plus. Burbage has also been part of the band Aether Realm since around 2014, and has been a huge part of the sound and their brotherhood. This peaceful departure has been only met with much support and love, as a group of guys who have become family does. It has been beautiful to see on the outside, as much as it saddens the TMHC to see him go.
Cradle of Filth began in 1991 out of England. They quickly became a favorite as Dani Filth dove into the hearts of metalheads with his distinct vocals and the bands musical compositions and visual videos and performances. The Screaming of the Valkyries as a whole is an incredible album, with songs “Ex Sanguine Draculae” and “Demagoguery” as this writer’s favorites.
Aether Realm has been a favorite in my household for many years now. Since we discussed this in the interview, it is safe, and great to know that they are back in the studio creating their next album. I am ecstatic for this, and will be eagerly awaiting to hear what they are doing this time.
I appreciate Donny for taking so much time with me to talk about all the things. (If you are viewing from your phone, please scroll to the end of the screen and click, “View Desktop Version” to gain interview and video access).
