SOUL EXCHANGE Interview: Addiction From Different Perspectives

Music comes in all shapes and forms; even the rock and metal genres have many subgenres. This makes enjoying them feel like an endless sea of choices. Soul Exchange is a hardcore band out of Austin, Texas, with brutal riffs and exciting compositions. The newest release is an EP titled Slow Descent, packed with hardcore goodness, featuring savage vocals and relentless instrumentation from the drums to the guitar to the bass. It also has some clean vocals, merciless harsh vocals, and some tasty melodies. The mix is enjoyable and keeps you interested all throughout. Slow Descent was released on June 5th, 2026, through 1126 Records.

Soul Exchange includes members: Austin Greco (vocals), Grant Gallo (guitar), Bryce Holloway (guitar), Pete Valera (bass), and Colby Cameron (drums). These musicians have created something really special with this release, featuring beautiful guitar work, catchy riffs, and even breathtaking strings and piano on the album’s title track, “Slow Descent”. The album entangles addiction and how it affects not only the addict but also the people surrounding them. A heavy and very important topic that I feel most can relate to in one way or another. It is a fantastic album that everyone should take a few minutes to check out.

Greco sat down with Metal Nation to discuss this release and a myriad of other topics.
