The mid-80s and 90s brought us death metal, and in the mix was Six Feet Under. Decades later, many of these death metal bands are still going strong, with Six Feet Under releasing its 15th studio album, Next to Die, on April 24th, 2026. As you may know, many of these bands had crossover members of Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, and Deicide, to name a few of the bigger ones. To see these members interweave from band to band, project to project, has been really interesting, especially with some having different styles with different bands. Jack Owen is one who has been “around the block” and is a well-respected guitar player within this world.
Six Feet Under began in the early 90s with Chris Barnes fronting the helm as the vocalist and a founding member. Now the band consists of members: Jack Owen (guitar), Ray Suhy (guitar), Jeff Hughell (bass), and Marco Pitruzzella (drums). Next to Die is another fantastic addition to the discography, with a few fun genre-bending tracks and a beautiful ending with the song “Ill Wishes”.
Jack was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this release.
