A band like Exploring Birdsong is not the typical band you would find on Metal Nation, but there is a reason they are being represented. I am more than thrilled to express my love and admiration for the upcoming release, Every House We Built, which will be out on June 26th, 2026. This release is so breathtakingly beautiful and full of heart and soul. It is progressive and extremely catchy. I find myself singing many of these throughout the days after listening, and wanting to go back and listen again. With a band that is so outside of my area of expertise, I have been fascinated by what they have done to me. I can’t imagine that it is not enough to at the very least intrigue you. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
Exploring Birdsong is a progressive rock band out of Liverpool, England. They are not your ordinary progressive rock band. They blend so many other musical genres and melodies that they keep you engaged. Exploring Birdsong also does not use any guitar, which is another layer of interest in how they have captivated me when I am all about the guitar. The trio of musicians, Lynsey Ward (vocals, piano), Jonny Knight (bass, synth), and Matt Harrison (drums, percussion), does an insane amount of musical wizardry between the three of them. I would attempt to explain them as a Kate Bush blended with progressive compositions and a Coheed and Cambria feel. They have also created this whole storyline with the videos they have released, with many easter eggs to keep your eyes peeled for. So creative!
The band sat down with Metal Nation and discussed this release and many other topics.
