DUNCAN EVANS AND THE WEEPING STARLIGHT INTERVIEW: Overcoming Challenges and Finding Peace

Sometimes Metal Nation likes to go outside the box a little and work with bands that are not under the specific metal umbrella, but there is still something about them that makes you feel it is the perfect platform. Duncan Evan and the Weeping Starlight are one of those bands. Duncan Evans has been creating music for a long time, but this is the debut album under this name. The album, titled The World is a War Zone, will be released on September 18th. 2026. The band has already released three singles: “Suffer”, “Deathless”, and “The Starlight Weeps”. The album has nine tracks in all.

Duncan Evans and the Weeping Starlight began in 2022 as a three-piece including Duncan Evans (vocals, guitars, synth, software instruments), Ol Jessop (bass), and Kev Reid (drums). The music is a blend of folk, rock, bluesy, and almost psychedelic soundscape. I had moments of Pink Floyd and Cat Stevens feels. The track “The Path” often gets stuck in my head, which says a lot. The World Is a War Zone is also diverse and emotional, with feelings of despair but also hope. I appreciate it when musicians add both perspectives to help us experience the spectrum we already deal with in everyday life. It is definitely worth checking out and giving a spin in its entirety.

Duncan was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this upcoming release.
