Everyone in the world knows who Disturbed is. Since the 90’s, they have been a big name and are even a grammy nominated band. John Moyer (bass player of Disturbed and many other projects) has become a big staple across the board with multiple bands and producing others. One of the bands he has produced is The Nocturnal Affair, fronted by singer/songwriter Brendan Shane. They are a dark rock/alternative project with some metal flair added in and theatrical videos. They have released the last song of a trilogy titled “The Deep”, which was followed by “Cross Me Out” and “Benefit of Doubt”. Three very different songs, but all incredible and with a powerful story.
There are many things I really enjoy about The Nocturnal Affair. I dig the name, the imagery, the music, and the sentiment behind the songs. The power of music and lyrics can help many feel as if they are not alone in their sorrows, thoughts, experiences, and life in general. Shane does a great job of expressing heartache where others can relate and utilize his words to heal themselves, or at the very least, not feel isolated in their life journey.
Shane was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss the stories and feelings behind the lyrics. Please also check out their socials below to follow up on what they are up to and where they will be touring.
