Bands and artists can be incredibly creative with their compositions, productions, videos, and more. Then some bands create a whole world along with the music, and that is where it becomes really interesting. Octotanker has developed a world that combines a comic book, amazing artwork, and music. They have released an album titled Voidhopper, and it is quite the experience! I encourage you to dive in and enjoy it all.
Octotanker is out of Poland and is a five-piece band that used to be called Prad. Members include: Tomasz Krymski (bass), Rafal Bielski (guitar), Wojciech Szelwicki (guitar), Piotr Krawczyk (drums), and Marcin Galkowski (vocals). They fit under the stoner rock with a psychedelic flair style of music.
Voidhopper begins with a sinister soundscape and jumps into a fuzzy riff that settles into a groove as Galkowski belts out his growly vocals in the self-titled track. The next track, “Starships,” smoothly transitions into another catchy riff with haunting vocals, maintaining a darker feel before it shifts into a higher vocal style with the same composition and soaring guitar work. The album ends with “Space Outlaw” which is a fun end to a great album with a jaunty soundscape and takes you on a journey throughout.
Tomasz was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss the band and the debut release. If you would like to see what Octotanker has going on, the social media are listed below!
