MAINSTREAM SCARE Interview: Colin and James “Impressed by my Best Friends”

It is nice to come across bands in the “wild” that you find you are really excited about and thoroughly enjoy, and Mainstream Scare is one of those bands. This three-piece has come with some impressive talent, which includes all three harmonizing at times through the metalcore subgenre element of their foundation. These close friends have created something special and I look forward to continuing to see what they do moving forward

While Mainstream Scare is far from a new band, it has been 11 years since they last released anything. “Alone” is their first release in 11 years, and has quickly become a track many people have been drawn to. They will be releasing their newest album, Sound & Static later this year. Members: James Marquez (vocals), Colin Friedman (drums), and Kenneth Hunter (guitar), are bringing the heavy with melodic parts and important topics. My favorite mix. The deep lyrical tone of this album adds to the rawness they have brought to the table and the transparency we sometimes crave in our musical outlets. I don’t know about all of you, but I appreciate when musicians do this because it brings an extra therapeutic element to my listening experience.

Mainstream Scare has only released one song off the upcoming album so far, but they will be releasing more before the album actually drops. James and Colin were kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation to discuss their reunion, what they have going on, what to expect moving forward, and everything in between.
