HEAVEN BELOW Interview: Nikki and Patrick Discuss Creativity in Silence

It is always interesting to see the meeting of the minds when it comes to different projects and worlds that collide, and Patrick Kennison (Lita Ford guitar player), and Nikki Stringfield (The Iron Maidens guitar player), have created this with latest Heaven Below album, The Majestic Twelve. While Stringfield has been a part of the band for a while now, they continue to build magic together. This is their fourth album, and it is an incredible one from the beautiful vocals to the brilliant guitar playing and every soundscape and instrument in between.

Heaven Below began in 2007 out of Los Angeles. They have had a few member changes, but have been consistent in their sound while also continuing to push the envelope. The band now encompasses Kennison (vocals, guitar), Stringfield (guitar, backing vocals), John Younger (bass), and Shad Wilhelm (drums). Their dynamic cinematic approaches to The Majestic Twelve offer the listener multiple levels to explore through several playthroughs. “Pandora’s Box” is one of my favorites; it is almost dark and sinister, which matches the alien theme of the album.  I also really enjoy “A Call to Arms (Proelium\Antebellum\Armistice)” which has some really beautiful vocal harmonies that dig into your soul and ethereal guitar parts that go from soft and elegant to more heavy and gruff.

Nikki and Patrick were kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation to discuss this release. (If you are viewing from your phone, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click, “View Desktop Version” to gain interview and video access).
