Metalcore is a sub-genre we all recognize under the umbrella of the metal genre, but some bands’ mastery is better than others. Crystal Lake is one of those that really turn a more creative approach and add enough twists and turns to keep you fully engaged and curious. The Weight of Sound features not only a new vocalist, John Robert Centorrino, but also many guest musicians, including Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), David Simonich (Signs of the Swarm), Taylor Barber (Seven Hours After Violet), Myke Terry (Fire From the Gods, Volumes), and Karl Schubach (Misery Signals). It is packed with an insane amount of talent and intense musicanship. This is an album worth taking the time to dig into thoroughly. It will be released on January 23rd, 2026, through Century Media.
From Tokyo, Japan, Yudai “YD” Miyamoto (lead guitarist), began the Crystal Lake adventure in 2019. Some lineup changes have happened over the years, but this current lineup is arguably the best yet. Hisatsugu Taji (rhythm guitar), Mitsuru (bass), and Gaku Taura (drums) join Miyamoto, along with the aforementioned newest member, Centorrino, to bring forth this aggressive and imaginative album, The Weight of Sound.
Centorrino was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this upcoming release as well as some mental health-related topics. Make sure you check them out on their socials below!
