CROWBAR Interview: Kirk and The Social Media Phenomenon

Sludge/doom metal has had a big influence on this writer over the years. It was something I listened to almost solely for years, and Crowbar was and is one of those bands. I have recently heard much of the younger generation talk more and more about Crowbar, even though they began in the early 90s, and I was curious why. Turns out, they have been utilizing help with social media to gain more attention with a newer fanbase, which is brilliant, and I could not be more thrilled to see this happen. These hardworking, brilliant musicians deserve to have more presence in the metal community. They released their latest album, Zero and Below, in 2022.

Crowbar began in 1990 in New Orleans. Kirk Windstein (vocalist, guitarist) is the standing original member. Windstein is also known for his work with Down (with Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity, Jimmy Bower of Crowbar, Eyehategod, and Pat Bruders of Goatwhore), Kingdom of Sorrow (with Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed), and his solo career. The New Orleans scene is packed with insanely talented musicians, clearly. As you can imagine, Windstein is an incredibly busy man, so I very much appreciated him taking some time to talk with Metal Nation about life, music, and anything else.
