THE HU Interview: Music Has Its Own Language

When the world feels like it is too much to handle, music is there to get us through. It is a language we all speak. Even if the world listens to a song and only a portion of listeners understand the words, the melody can still speak to the soul. I appreciate how cultural music has become more accepted in metal music. There are so many insanely talented musicians everywhere. While Sepultura helped lead the way, bands like Bloodywood and Alien Weaponry have gained attention and continue to be a driving force in metal. These are, of course, only a few examples, but another huge band that uses their culture in their music is the Mongolian juggernaut The HU. The HU is releasing its third full-length album titled Hun on July 24th, 2026. It is another beast of an album.

The HU originates from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and began in 2016. Gala (throat singing, morin khuur), Jaya (throat singing, tsuur, tumur khuur), Enkush (throat singing, morin khuur), and Temka (backing vocals, tovshuur) are the phenomenal musicians behind the music. Hun is a breathtaking album that conveys emotion through brilliant compositions, incredible throat singing, and amazing instrumental playing.

Gala was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this release.
