There are bands out there that have lyrics that are storytelling, others that talk about dragons and other fantasy-driven elements, some space and science fiction, and some real-life stuff that hits closer to home. VCTMS is definitely an emotionally motivated band that has a lot of important things to say. They do not shy away from sensitive topics and give people who are struggling a place to feel seen and not alone. That is a very precious thing that a band and music can give someone. VCTMS released their newest EP, Pain Processing II, on May 1st, 2026, and it is another incredible release.
VCTMS consists of musicians: Meredith Henderson (drums, songwriter), John Matalone (vocals), and Ryan Walters (guitar). In Pain Processing II they have many guest musicians featured, including Austin Hayes of Heavy//Hitter, Ben Hoagland of Extortionist, as well as many others. The album is full of aggression, exciting melody shifts, significant lyrical matters, and so much heart and soul. They never disappoint, and are incredible live. I highly encourage you to listen to the release and make sure you see them live. You will not be dissatisfied.
Meredith and John sat down with Metal Nation and discussed this release as well as many other topics.
