As a folk metal fan, it is exciting to find newer bands that not only cover the genre but do it beautifully. Forgotten Shrine is releasing its album Nox Aeterna on November 6th 2026, and it is impressive and exciting. If you are new to folk metal, this is the perfect place to start. They do it very well, and the album’s flow, feel, and compositions are impeccable. Even more incredible, only two people are in this band.
Forgotten Shrine consists of musicians: Sofiz Frasz (vocals, guitar, lyrics, composition) and Josh Alexander (guitar, bass, hurdy-gurdy, backing vocals, composition, and other instruments). These two breathe so much life into this project and album with alluring storytelling, an exceptional musical adventure, and extraordinary compositions that make you feel like part of the journey. I highly recommend checking it out!
