Many bands are no stranger to struggles on and off the road. It is hard work, it is hard on families, and it can be hard on the band as a whole. I have always said bands are like marriages, most spend more time with bandmates than their families, so it is not uncommon for breakups and strife. The Amity Affliction knows all too well about this, and has reached some pullback with recent split with other frontman, Ahren Stringer. As they continue to move forward with a new vocalist, Johnathan Reeves, they are proving to show consistency with sound, and some even more aggressive tracks, which I am here for! House of Cards is a mixture of soundscapes and melodies, absolute fire from beginning to a big bang in the end. It will be released on April 24th, 2026, and I cannot wait for you all to hear it in its entirety!
The Amity Affliction began in Australia in 2003. Joel Birch (vocals), Dan Brown (guitar, backing vocals), Joe Longobardi (drums), and newest member Jonathan Reeves (vocals, bass), are the masterminds behind House of Cards. As they are navigating some of the difficulties of the lineup change, they are feeling determined and positive about the steps they are taking. I, for one, am pleased with the evolution and have highly enjoyed this release. I encourage you to give it a listen. The depths of emotions and topics are important, and the compositions are extraordinary.
Joel sat down with Metal Nation and discussed House of Cards and some delicate topics related to the music and lyrics.
