SOLACE Interview: Justin and Tommy Are Too Serious

Anyone who knows me well knows how big a fan I am of classic rock, stoner rock, and doom-style metal. I grew up on my dad’s record collection, which had a good portion of these musical styles. Many bands from the 60s and 70s have taken what was already nearly perfect music and amplified it with some fuzz and slower, atmospheric distortion riffs. Solace does an incredible job of mixing all of these elements while also making them their own. Fading Failing Ruin is their fifth studio album, and it comes out on July 3rd, 2026.

Solace began in 1996 out of Asbury, New Jersey, a very rich music scene, especially for this specific style. The musicians behind the music are: Tommy Southard (guitar), Justin Skyler Daniels (guitar), Justin Goins (vocals, Keyboard), Tim Schoenleber (drums), and Mike Sica (bass). Fading Failing Ruin is jam-packed with incredible riffs, haunting vocals, tasty guitar solos, and brilliant compositions. You can tell these guys love what they do, and they do it well.

Tommy and Justin sat down with Metal Nation and discussed this release as well as had lots of laughs and discussed anything and everything else.
