MIKE LEPOND Interview: Bass Icon Talks ‘Whore of Babylon’. DEADRISEN, ROSS THE BOSS

The state of the world seems a little unreal for most people at this moment. Still, that has not slowed Mike Lepond. The iconic Symphony X bassist has been a touring and recording juggernaut. This includes the release of three new records in the first half of 2020. March came in like a lion with the sophomore Ross the Boss album, Born of Fire. A mere week later, the eponymous debut DeadRisen album also saw release. Meanwhile, Lepond, along with his partners in crime, vocalist Alan Tecchio and guitarist Lance Barnewold have been sitting on the third Mike Lepond’s Silent Assassins album, Whore of Babylon. Originally slated for a late May release, the current pandemic has pushed its drop date to June 26.

Mike was kind enough to be my guinea pig today as I tried my hand at my first Zoom-based video interview. Other than forgetting to press record on our initial small talk and discovering I speak with my hands like a typical New York Italian, I think it all went pretty smoothly. So thank you Mr. Lepond for being so gracious as to be the first. In the interview below, Mike fills us in on Whore of Babylon. He also discusses his other new releases, and what Symphony X fans can expect this year. Lepond has also released two of his own storyteller videos discussing the new Silent Assassins record, and I have included them here as well. Horns up, and all hail the mighty riff!

Whore of Babylon releases June 26, 2020 through Silver Lining Music.
