The pandemic came with many horrible things, but there also were some incredible things that occurred as well. One of those things was the “birthing” of the band Hiraes. They released their debut album in 2021 titled, Solitary, and was quickly turning heads and had people talking right away. Hiraes has had some incredible momentum since and on January 26th, 2024 released their second album, Dormant. Just when you think this melodic death metal band couldn’t get better, they somehow did. Vocalist Britta Gortz incorporated some clean vocals along with her harsh vocal style and it just shows you how incredibly talented she is.
Hiraes originates in Germany and consists of band members: Gortz (vocals), Lukas Kerk (guitar), Oliver Kirchner (guitar), Christian Wosten (bass), and Mathias Blasse (drums). Britta has a brilliant way of showing the brighter side of the darkness in life. This is one of my favorite things about this band and Dormant. Hiraes also have an incredibly powerful force of high energy and insane musicianship throughout the entire album that almost makes you wonder if they are wizards with how much intensity they carry. You will want to bang your head along, but let it come with a warning, you might not be able to move your head for a month after. Every musician brings their all and does not let up. It is a special album and I highly recommend it to any metal music enthusiast.
