Some music is difficult to categorize, and I tend to love those types of bands because they are usually very unique. Eluveitie is one of those bands. They have such a creative way of composing along with adding instruments to metal you normally would think wouldn’t work, but actually ends up working beautifully. I have come to love this band over the years, and every time a new album is released, I am excited to hear how they will approach it. Anv is another stunning album filled with some of the best clean vocals by the incredibly talented Fabienne Erni mixed with the awe-inspiring harsh vocals of Chrigel Glansmann. Anv will be out on April 25th, 2025 through Nuclear Blast Records.
Eluveitie began in 2002 by Glansmann and has continued an impressive route as they have slayed album after album. While there have been multiple band member changes throughout the years, the music has stayed a consistent folky melodeath metal goodness mixed with Celtic history, mythology, and philosophies on life. Glansmann has a knack for including thought provoking lyrics that give you hope when everything feels hopeless. My favorite tracks on Anv have become, “The Harvest” and “The Prophecy”, which Chrigel was kind enough to explain in our interview. It is a curious album full of some insane musicianship. I suggest you give it a listen!
Chrigel sat down with Metal Nation to discuss this release as well as his thoughts on life. (If you are viewing from your phone, please scroll to the end of the page and click “View Desktop Version” to gain interview and video access).
