Album Review: BLOODYWOOD – Nu Delhi

Bloodywood – Nu Delhi

March 21st, 2025

Fearless Records

If you’re ready to have your mind blown, find yourself dancing in delight & banging on your chest, you’ll love India’s 1st Metal Folk act to chart on Billboard that is, Bloodywood. Nu Delhi is the 1st album released under Fearless Records. Stretch that neck & legs & turn it up to 100. From the first track Halla Bol (Raise your voice) right out of the gates is the perfect pump up song. I may not be able to keep up with the younger generation of metalheads but this song makes me feel like I can! Hutt (Move) you’re going to be sprinting to get in the pit with this track. Dhadak (Heartbeat) “Float like a butterfly, sting like a mother f’ing bee.” Bekhauf (Fearless) Killer collaboration with Baby Metal & what I loved most about this is how well the 2 distinct sounds from each band welded together so perfectly. I’m not sure how they did it, but they knocked it out of the park. The breakdown in Kismat (Destiny) is siiiiiick. Tadka is an anthem about food & culture in India. If it’s about food, count me in! Closing track Nu Delhi is a song about being proud of your heritage, where we come from. No matter what side of the earth were on, our souls connect us, especially the souls of metalheads.

I’m in awe of what I’m hearing from these guys. What started as a side project, recreating covers from various bands, founder Karan Katiyar teamed up with Rap vocalist Raoul Kerr to add hip-hop elements & flow to their sound. Karan also teamed up with vocalist Jayant Bhadula that does more of the clean & growling vocals. He also has a natural tone to his voice that pulls you in & hypnotizing. From Hardcore to Rap to Electronic & even folk, these guys know how to stack all the layers together to achieve their distinct sound. Combining traditional Indian instruments such as the Sitar, Dhol & Bansuri with modern electric guitar & bass. I love how they showcase traditional Indian music in their songs & make it to style the heartbeat of their sound. Every metal head searches for that song or band that can make us feel something, help us through tough times, relate to & release our life stress & anxieties. These guys focus their lyrics on mental health. Something all of us relate to. Bloodywood is my new go-to.

I personally can’t wait for July 21st when these guys stop in Salt Lake City on their North American tour. Supporting artist for American metal band, Jinjer, with International Headliners Baby Metal!! This will be a must see concert so start saving your bones, get the tickets & GO. The tour kicks off June 13th in Houston, Texas. Black Veil Brides will be supporting this tour on the first leg with Jinjer taking over the 2nd leg. I’ll see you in the pit!

When you have some time to burn, go to Bloodywood.net & watch their documentary “Raj against the machine.” The tell-all of how they started from the villages of India, to playing their first ever live show in front of a sell out crowd. They sold out every show on their first tour in the UK.
