VOLUMES Interview: Michael and The Importance of Being Kind to Supporters

Most, if not all, bands are no strangers to difficulty, heartbreak, and traumatic events. Volumes, unfortunately, are one of the victims of these things. From losing parents to losing band members, Volumes has continued to move forward and consistently create incredible music. Mirror Touch is another amazing album that will be released on December 12th, 2025. Happy early Holidays, folks. It is a gift we all get to unwrap early, and it is a breathtaking gift at that.

Volumes began in 2009 out of Los Angeles, California. They have had member changes throughout the years but were able to hold a consistent sound the supporters all have come to know and love. Mirror Touch is the second release with vocalists Michael Barr and Myke Terry, two insanely talented musicians who complement each other very well. Along with brilliant fellow musicians, Raad Soudani (bass), and Nick Ursich (drums), they have constructed an extraordinary adventure with this release. From heavy breakdowns, to melodic soundscapes, to ethereal songs, Mirror Touch has a little bit of everything, wrapped in a beautifully emotional bow. “Stitch” is one track I feel has really stuck with me in many different aspects, and I hear that tune in my head long after listening to it. “Worth It” brings forth some complicated feelings about death and how it is ok to feel what and how you feel without having to respond the cliche way that is considered “appropriate”. I really appreciate this thought provoking topic and can only imagine how much comfort it will be bringing to those who have dealt with these complicated emotions in their life with people they have lost. Last track “Suffer On” brings Black Sheep Wall as a guest and finishes the album heavy and brutal. I have enjoyed this entire experience from beginning to end multiple times, and will definitely continue to revist it for years to come. Make sure you check it out!

Michael and Myke (shortly), were wonderful enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this release as well as the difficulties of being musicians on tour and finding balance in life.
