POP EVIL Interview: Leigh the Angel and the Demon on Your Shoulders

There are so many subgenres within the genre of rock and metal, and some bands are good at tackling a few within their music and throughout their years. Pop Evil has always been considered a rock band, but they are working toward a more heavy metal sound and you will see that with track, “Wishful Thinking” on their latest release, What Remains, which was out on March 21st, 2025 through MNRK Heavy. Since this song has been a favorite on this album, frontman Leigh Kakaty is feeling more comfortable with moving further into that direction. So make sure you keep your eyes on these guys moving forward, Pop Evil is coming for you, in a metal fashion.

Pop Evil began its journey out of Michigan in 2001. Throughout the years, they have worked hard to bring the music to the earholes of people nationwide and continue doing what they love. Nothing good comes easy, and they are proving this, but thankfully, it has been paying off as they continue to cast a wide net that fans are eager to get caught up in. While Kakaty was the original creator, he is quick to give all of the musicians huge credit with the direction they are going and what they have been composing.

Leigh was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this latest release, as well as the music industry, how he feels about the fans, and many other topics.
