OMNIUM GATHERUM Interview: Jukka Opens Up About Life and Death

Melodic death metal has become one of my favorite genres, and Omnium Gatherum has showcased this genre beautifully for many decades now. They are releasing their tenth studio album titled May the Bridges We Burn Light the Way on November 7th, 2025, through Century Media Records. This is their first concept album based on “stories from the streets”, which Jukka delves into with this interview. It is another incredible album full of beautiful clean and harsh vocals, incredible compositions, and a whole lot of heart and soul. If you are a fan of this band or genre, don’t sleep on this one.

Omnium Gatherum originates from Karhula, Finland, and began in 1996. Original guitar player Markus Vanhala added Jukka Pelonen (vocals), Aapo Koivisto (keyboards, backing vocals), Mikko Kivisto (bass), Joonas “Jope” Koto (rhythm guitar), and Atte Pesonen (drums), along the way. They will be going on tour with some of this writer’s favorite bands, Hinanyana and Aether Realm, on a North American tour on November 16th, 2025. Make sure you check this tour out to see if they are coming near you!

Jukka was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this upcoming release as well as life and death topics and many others. (If you are viewing from your phone, please scroll to the end of the page and click “View Desktop Version” to gain interview and video access).
