Mike Spreitzer longtime guitarist of DevilDriver, has announced his new band Verona on Venus. The first song, “The Rodent”, will be released on December 1st and you can pre-save it here. The album, Popular Decisions, will be released on January 19th, 2024, and will include nine tracks. You can pre-save this as well here. The teasers have me super stoked, and since I had a chance to talk with Spreitzer on DevilDriver’s last release, I know how much this style of industrial metal means to him, and how this is a journey he has wanted to take for a while. I am beyond excited to see him working on one of his dreams, it looks like it is going to be a pretty intense ride. You can see the teasers for yourself here.
Spreitzer says of this new release,
“There’s a dark and unruly side of music that has been lost,” says Spreitzer. “It’s time to rediscover, reemerge, and remind people that the uncomfortable and unsettling should not be forgotten. The bands, musicians, and devoted fans of metal and all its sub-genres were the pioneers of weird and creepy, and this is what makes this culture incredibly unique in a world of normalcy. Writing this album was my personal testament that I can push myself to limits I always knew existed both musically and creatively. This album wasn’t so much a discovery of myself but more so a confirmation that I could go to a place within myself that was buried. I finally pushed myself to uncover this side of me”.
“Working with my team of talented creatives who facilitated and executed my vision down to the exact details was invigorating and rewarding in a way I could never have imagined. I am deeply and profoundly grateful to all of them.”
Make sure you keep your eyes and ears out and prepared for this exciting new release!
