Music comes from many places and sometimes within the same family. Some people are raised around music from the minute they were born, others have musicians built within their family structure. Richie Cavalera has both. While he has had a musical upbringing and structure, he has had to build from the floor up just like anyone else and has not had privileges based on his surroundings. Developing and continuing Incite has been a long road for him, but one he take pride in and puts a lot of effort into. Incite is releasing their latest album, Savage New Times on August 15th, 2025 through Reigning Phoenix Music. It is a powerful thrash album full of genre-bending songs and kicks some serious ass from beginning to end.
Incite began in 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona. Cavalera is the founding member and frontman, and is joined by: EL (bass), Lennon Lopez (drums), and Layne Richardson (guitar). This four-pack has created something truly special with Savage New Times. The album begins with the track “Lies”, which features a groovy, thrashy riff that maintains its heaviness throughout the entire song. It is a great way to start the experience you are about to embark upon. The guitar work on many of the songs keep your head banging and your body in motion. Then comes “Dolores,” which takes a more melodic and mellower tone, but evokes all the emotions. I enjoy watching the YouTube video along with this because it adds to the feelings that are naturally happening. The guitar solo is the icing on an already perfect cake. I love this song to the depths of my soul. The end track, “Savage New Times” begins with a cool drumbeat and transitions to a kickass riff. This is a proper conclusion to a really incredible album.
