Atmospheric rock is an interesting genre that really has you invested in what you are about to listen to. Drift Mothership is a great example of this, especially with their latest covers, “Mystify,” an INXS cover, and “Stranded,” a Goijra cover. They have taken these two songs and made them their own, without destroying the integrity of the originals. They also released an EP titled Out of Chaos in 2020 and a full-length album titled New Blood Type in 2022. They are currently working on another album.
Drift Mothership, initially called simply Drift, is a unique and positive band with a mystery surrounding it. Members are considered operators, and all have operator jobs/names with the head of the ship called Operator Voxx. They have really catchy melodies and some incredible guitar work. If you enjoy some great rock music with positivity seeping from it, you will really enjoy this band, and I encourage you to check them out! Also, from what I hear, they are incredible live, so see if they are coming near you and catch a show!
Operator Voxx was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation and discuss this project, the covers they have done, and the future of Drift Mothership. (If you are viewing from your phone, please scroll to the end and click “View Desktop Version” to gain interview and video access).
