BUCKCHERRY Interview: Josh Discusses Sobriety and Mental Health

Rock music comes in many forms, some still stick to the sex, drugs, and rock and roll, which is where Buckcherry lies, even though vocalist Josh Todd has been clean and sober for 30 years now. Way to go Josh!! You didn’t make it through the late 90’s and early 2000’s without knowing who Buckcherry was. From huge hits, “Lit Up” to “Crazy Bitch” you have heard them play anywhere and everywhere. 30 Years later, they are continuing to go strong and releasing their 11th studio album, Roar Like Thunder, on June 13th, 2025 through Round Hill Records. Tried and true to what they have shown throughout the years, this is another solid album with some catchy and fun songs.

Buckcherry began in 1995 and quickly became a rock favorite and staple. They have toured hard and continually put out music all of these years and show no signs of stopping. Roar Like Thunder has released two singles, “Come On” and “Roar Like Thunder”, which have both received high praises. A couple of this writer’s favorites have been, “Set it Free” and “When the Sun Goes Down”. Make sure you check out this album when it fully drops!

Josh was kind enough to sit down with Metal Nation to discuss this release as well as covering other topics including his sobriety and mental health. (If you are viewing from your phone, please scroll to the end of the page and click “View Desktop Version” to gain interview and videos).
