Hardcore has a very dedicated scene, and none as dedicated as the ones who were a big part of the beginning. The fusion of punk and metal was new in the late 80s, but seemed to be a no-brainer mash-up when it entered the earholes of punk and metal fans alike. Biohazard is one of the bands to thank for bringing this glorious mix, but they also added some melodic guitar solo work similar to Cantrell of Alice in Chains, which made them extra unique. In late 2025, Biohazard released their 10th studio album titled Divided We Fall. All these years later, they are still dominating the scene.
Biohazard began in 1987 in New York. Evan Seinfeld (vocals, bass), Billy Graziadei (vocals, rhythm guitar), Bobby Hambel (lead guitar), and Danny Schuler (drums) recorded the first album, which was self-titled, in 1990. They dominated the 90’s hardcore scene and toured the world on seminal albums like Urban Discipline, and State Of The World Address. After some member changes throughout the years, this quartet regrouped to release Divided We Fall. This spring, they will be on an exciting lineup tour with Exodus and Sepultura.
A little more about Evan, he started as a roadie for Peter Steele of Carnivore, later of Type O Negative fame. After this, he branched out and started Biohazard with his fellow musicians. Seinfeld later left behind the California extravagance and moved to Telum, Mexico. He started a men’s group called MANTORSHIP. Combining the ideas of mental and physical wellness into a worldwide group of men who discuss all topics heavy on their hearts and minds, cultivating into a board of directors for one’s life, holding each other accountable, listening, and giving pearls of wisdom. He then began FULLMETAL FITNESS, a fitness app curated to one’s personal dietary desires and active lifestyle, resulting in personalized meal plans and workout plans. All guided by Evan himself.
Evan was kind enough to sit down with Cody of Metal Nation and discuss Biohazard as well as some other things he has going on.
