This world I have found myself living in has been one of the most incredible experiences. Simply having the opportunity to listen to music all the time, usually ahead of release dates, is one of the many layers of this shindig. Having the ability to pick the brains of some of the most creative, most talented, and interesting musicians is definitely the top of the peak for me, and having the chance to chat with Alex Skolnick has been a once-in-a-lifetime moment, well twice, since the first interview did not actually record. I guess that conversation was meant just for me to keep in my memory to forever behold.
Alex Skolnick is a household name for guitar and metal lovers alike, as well as some jazz enthusiasts. He is well-known for his work with the powerhouse thrash metal band (and arguably number five of the big four of thrash), Testament. He also plays jazz music with Alex Skolnick Trio, and has his hand in supergroup Metal Allegiance. He has also featured in many other songs and bands, including one of my favorites, Lost Symphony. Not only is Skolnick one of the most talented guitar players out there, and on many guitar players’ top players lists, he is also a kind and good human, which is always refreshing when it comes to some of these bigger artists.
Alex was sweet enough to sit down with Metal Nation, again! and so patiently, for a second interview that THANKFULLY was recorded. He also kindly allowed my son, Hendrix, to be involved in the conversation. You will be seeing more of Hendrix in his own interviews moving forward!
